Moving To Oklahoma City? We Love Our BBQ Here!

April 11, 2014

Oklahoma City BBQIf you are moving to the Oklahoma City metro area, there's something you should know...we're pretty serious about BBQ in Oklahoma. BBQ smoke is in the air as we head into the sunny warm weather and with it there are some great BBQ festivals to attend. This year the beloved annual tradition The Bricktown Blues and BBQ festival runs June 20-21st. and features live performances by popular area bands. But if you can't wait that long and like a festive family atmosphere and you don't mind a drive, the Muskogee Annual Chili & BBQ Cook-Off happens this weekend! On April 12th enjoy a full day of BBQ, chili, entertainment and fun for the whole family. These, along with a couple of other great festivals across the state, feature Oklahoma BBQ at its finest. If you just can't wait for the festivals and want to stay local to get ahold of some delicious BBQ here are a few top restaurants that aren't too far from some of our Ideal Homes communities.Van's Pigstand Norman Oklahoma BBQVan's Pig Stand - Or Van's as the locals call it, has been around in one form or another since 1928. As Van's has expanded from its meager beginnings they smoke up pork and beef and slather it with their perfect sauce served up with a side of their homemade curly fries. If you want fantastic brisket and tender ribs Van's Norman location is about 3 miles from our Red Canyon Ranch and Green Leaf Trails Communities and not too much further to our Carrington Place Community. And their Moore location is less than 10 minutes from County Place, Featherstone, and Wildflower. Iron Starr BBQ Oklahoma CityIron Starr Urban Bar-B-Que - This local BBQ gem is located in the heart of Oklahoma City. While perhaps a little upscale and trendy, it doesn't compromise the smoky taste of top rated BBQ. With yummy pulled pork or bacon wrapped quail, there are great choices on the menu and it's locally owned. Leo's Barbecue - Located on N. Kelly Ave in Oklahoma City, this is a true BBQ joint. It's the kind of place where you share tables with strangers and enjoy heav l-1 enly smoked meats, smoked right there on the premises so you might smell smoky when you leave. After being featured on the TV show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives' the popularity of Leo's has grown, but lucky for us this hasn't changed the top quality food served up daily. Now that your mouth is watering... go enjoy some Oklahoma City BBQ.
